Was anyone at the time of his call already circumcised? Let him not seek to remove the marks of circumcision. Was anyone at the time of his call uncircumcised? Let him not seek circumcision. For neither circumcision counts for anything nor uncircumcision, but keeping the commandments of God. Each one should remain in the condition in which he was called. 1 Corinthians 7:18-20

Note: If the “commandments of God” were meant to be keeping the Torah, then circumcision would still be required. We keep the spirit of the law, which is actually a higher calling, not according to the letter but according to the leading of the Holy Spirit to obey the two greatest commands: Love God and love one another. Love fulfills the law. (However, the definition of “love” should not be twisted to mean “anything goes,” such that depravity is condoned.)
