Note: It is important to distinguish that these were followers of Jesus acting out of their own free will and love for Jesus. No one took anything forcefully from them. The property wasn’t kept by the leaders for themselves, nor was it given to people who could work but chose not to. Nor were some people treated as special with different rules applying to them – everyone followed the same rules. People who settled to live among them were to be treated the same and in turn, have the same expectations of them.

The point is this: whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows bountifully will also reap bountifully. Each one must give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.
